CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has announced that a remake of the original Witcher game is currently in development. The announcement is interesting in that the game will use Unreal Engine 5.
We're thrilled to reveal that, together with @Fools_Theory, we're working on remaking The Witcher using Unreal Engine 5 (codename: Canis Majoris)!

We want to do this right, so please be patient — it's gonna be a while until we can share more details.

CDPR has also announced a collaboration with Fool's Theory studios for the remake of The Witcher. The Witcher Remake, codenamed Canis Majoris, is one of three games (Sirius and Polaris are the other two) that CDPR announced earlier this month.
"It's still early and we want to ensure that the game is created with the utmost care and attention to detail, so while we're excited to share the news with you, we want to ask you for patience as it will be a while before we start talking about this project in detail," CDPR says.
