Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne are being remade by Remedy Entertainment. The business has formed a "new development deal" with Rockstar Games for the remakes, which will be released as a single title for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X / S.
"We were excited when our long-time friends at Remedy approached us about replicating the original Max Payne games," stated Sam Houser creator of Rockstar Games, in a news statement. "We are huge admirers of the Remedy team's work over the years, and we can't wait to play these updated versions."
The game, dubbed "New Max Payne 1&2 Project" in the press release, is "currently in the idea development stage." There is no estimated release date. The budget for the remake will be "funded by Rockstar Games, the amount of which will be in line with a normal Remedy AAA-game development," according to the press announcement.
