According to BBC News, seven adolescents were detained by City of London Police for alleged links to a hacking gang thought to be the lately prolific Lapsus$ group.

“Seven people between the ages of 16 and 21 have been arrested in connection with an investigation into a hacking group,” City of London Police said, according to BBC News. “They have all been released under investigation. Our inquiries remain ongoing.”

Nvidia, Samsung, Ubisoft, Okta, and Microsoft are among the corporations that have blamed Lapsus$ for serious security breaches. On Wednesday, allegations arose claiming that the group's mastermind is an Oxford-based adolescent. According to BBC News, City of London Police did not specify whether this adolescent was among those arrested.

According to BBC News, the teenager's father was allegedly ignorant of his son's connection with the gang. "Until lately, I had never heard of any of this." "He's never mentioned hacking, but he's quite adept on computers and spends a lot of time on the computer," the father told BBC News. "I always believed he was joking. We're going to attempt to keep him away from computers."
