PlayStation State Of Play March 2022: All Big Game Announcements

The highlights of PlayStation's latest State Of Play were these announcements.

The current PlayStation State of Play has come to an end, but not before showcasing a number of brand-new games as well as some in-depth looks at a couple previously revealed titles. We won't have to wait long to test out some of these games and upgrades, as they're coming our way later this year. In the meanwhile, here are the most important announcements from the March 2022 State of Play.

Exoprimal

Capcom's Exoprimal is a brand-new IP that puts mecha-clad soldiers against waves of—wait for it—dinosaurs. In the fast-paced action game, you and your squad of "exopilots" get to pick one of five exosuits, each with various skills, and fight together to protect the city from vast floods of ferocious raptors and fearsome Tyrannosaurs. While it may not be as good as Dino Crisis, it appears to be the ideal game for anybody wishing to have some Jurassic-sized fun with pals. Exoprimal will be released on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 2023.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

Ghostwire: Tokyo is nearly here, and this new video provides the most comprehensive look at the upcoming title yet. Ghostwire: Tokyo, developed by Tango Gameworks and overseen by Shinji Mikami, the developer of Resident Evil and The Evil Within, is a much more action-oriented game for the Japanese firm. The game, however, remains strongly steeped in both horror and supernatural aspects, as you play as a possessed young man who must defend himself against numerous yokai and other evil entities. Ghostwire: Tokyo will be released on March 25th for the PlayStation 5 and PC, and preorders are currently available from a variety of online stores.

Forspoken

Every Forspoken teaser we get, shows off just how ambitious Luminous Productions' forthcoming game seems to be, and the one presented at the most recent State of Play is no exception. In it, Frey faces a slew of foes, including a flaming skeleton monster, a colossal lion, and, last but not least, a fire-breathing dragon. We also got a taste of how quick and fluid the world of Forspoken appears to be, especially on Frey's magical "surfboard." After being postponed from its original May release date only a few days ago, Forspoken is now set to be released for PS5 and PC on October 11th.

Returnal: Ascension

While Returnal is not a new game, its latest update may make it seem like one. Returnal: Ascension is the next addition to grace the 2021 roguelike, and it brings with it a whole new level of challenge and collaboration. The latest version includes campaign co-op as well as a new survivor mode named "The Tower of Sisyphus." Ascension is set to be released on March 23 and will be available for free to all users.

JoJo's Bizarre All Star Battle R

If you can't get enough anime and/or fighting games, we have some exciting news for you. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R will bring the colourful characters of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure to consoles and PC later this year. All Star Battle R is a remaster of the 2013 PS3 game of the same name, and it incorporates 50 characters from the long-running franchise as well as enormous venues for big-scale battle. The game is set to be released in the fall of 2022 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and Steam.

The Diofield Chronicle

Square Enix is back with another tactics game based on an entirely new IP. The Diofield Chronicle The new game appears to be a spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Tactics, with warring kingdoms and a mix of anime-style 3D models and more-realistic surroundings. The Diofield Chronicle will be released in 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, as well as the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Valkyrie Elysium

Valkyrie Elysium is the next instalment in the Valkyrie series. Valkyrie Elysium, developed by Square Enix, is a novel take on Norse mythology in which your character, Valkyrie, must ward off the end of the world with fast-action physical combat and lethal spells. Based on the teaser, it appears like the future release will have a fighting system akin to Devil May Cry, complete with combinations. However, it looks that you will be able to enlist warriors, or Einherjar, to help you in combat. Valkyrie Elysium will be released in 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
