Microsoft claims that the Windows 11 File Explorer advertisements were 'just a testing'.

Microsoft looks to be testing new advertising for Windows 11 file explorer in the Microsoft insider programme, as we previously reported. Florian B, a Windows Insider MVP on Twitter, shared a screenshot of the Windows 11 File Explorer with a Microsoft Editor advertisement. The ad is claimed to be on the most recent Windows Insider Dev channel, build 22572, which was released last week.

Brandon LeBlanc, senior programme manager for Windows, spoke to The Verge, saying, "This was an experimental banner that was not intended to be released outside and was turned off."

Clearly a lot of people were upset by this testing, and this shows Microsoft is capable of running ads on windows. Ads in Microsoft are not new, Windows 11 currently displays commercials on the lock screen and in the Start Menu, and briefing doesn't tell anything about Microsoft's future plan regarding ads in their operating system.

We all know advertisement is a big market, and big players like google and facebook make most of their revenue from this, and Microsoft knows this, recently google banned Youtube Vanced which was developed by small dev to the alternative of youtube premium.

New updates to Xbox Cloud Gaming bring major performance improvements.
