Orders for new Steam Decks will not be shipped until at least October.

If you're interested in a Steam Deck but haven't made a reservation yet, you should do so soon. Valve has updated the Steam Deck website to reflect that any reservations made now will not be able to place an order until "after Q3 2022," which means you won't be able to get your hands on one of the handheld gaming PCs until at least October.

Previously, new bookings had a "after Q2 2022" timeframe, but it appears that demand is great enough that Valve is extending the order timetable into the year. However, there is some good news for those who have made a reservation with that "after Q2 2022" window: Valve is beginning to illustrate that some should now anticipate to be able to place reservations in Q3.

Valve accepted the first wave of Steam Deck orders on February 25th, and a second batch of order emails was sent out on Monday. Every Monday, the firm intends to send out new rounds of order emails, and after you receive your email, you'll have 72 hours to complete your purchase. Those with a Q1 order window will receive an email by the end of March, and "we'll start working through the Q2 queue in a similar method" beginning in April, Valve announced in February.

Valve also said on Monday that it intends to expand Steam Deck availability to other countries, "including Japan," by the end of 2022. It's unknown whether nations, except Japan, will be able to order the gadget.
