HMD Global does not intend to offer a new Nokia flagship; instead, it will focus on entry-level and mid-range phones.

HMD Global debuted its flagship Nokia 9 PureView camera-centric smartphone at the MWC in 2019. Despite the fact that it did not release a flagship phone after that, there were whispers of a successor arriving in 2021, but this did not occur. Adam Ferguson, HMD's Head of Product Marketing, Global, stated to Android Authority in a recent interview that the company does not intend to produce a new flagship.

“Making an $800 phone doesn’t make sense for us at the moment,” He added that “HMD doesn’t want to get involved in a massive spec war with other players” and would rather “stand for something very different.”

HMD stated that it will focus on providing high-quality feature phones, entry-level and mid-range smartphones. It intends to create hardware that will endure for several years and have a multi-day battery life at an inexpensive price. HMD has been profitable since the third quarter of 2020, and the fourth quarter of 2021 was the company's most lucrative quarter to date, due to its entry-level and mid-range phones. According to HMD's product leader, there is still "more to accomplish."

The company's X and XR series appear to be the top-end phones. When it was unable to provide an Android 11 upgrade to Nokia 9 PureView customers owing to camera compatibility difficulties, it offered a 50% discount on the Nokia XR20 to those who wanted to experience Android 11. The firm even provides three options.
