Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starters have been added to Animal Crossing by a modder.

 

Fans frequently celebrate the introduction of new characters in series such as Pokémon by making memes and fan art of the characters. This time, one modder has gone a step further, adding the three starter Pokémon from the upcoming (and unreleased) Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to the environment of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Doom Desire, the mod's creator, released photos of the mod on March 6. In a video, we see the three starters from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, standing side by side wearing costumes that match their general appearance and type. At February, the Pokémon were unveiled with a new generation of games in a Pokémon Presents.

However, the mod is not something that any gamer can simply download onto their Switch. Doom Desire informed Polygon on Twitter that they created it by changing the villager models in the game to appear like each Pokémon. They then edited the Switch game files using the 3D modelling applications Blender and Switch Toolbox. Then, using a jailbroken Switch, they patched their modified files into the game.

Doom Desire develops Animal Crossing mods for fun and stated that after playing Pokémon: Legends Arceus, they intended on producing a Pokémon villager mod. "However, when I saw the gen 9 beginnings, I believed they'd readily match the current animal kinds - cat, croc, duck — without any alterations," they explained.
